Description

The Universal Audio Apollo Solo is a premium desktop audio interface that serves as a professional gateway into the world of UAD (Universal Audio Digital) processing. It is designed for musicians, producers, and songwriters who want the exceptional sound quality and vintage analog emulation of Universal Audio’s flagship interfaces in a compact and portable form.

There are two versions of the Apollo Solo: a Thunderbolt 3 version (for Mac and Windows) and a USB version (specifically for Windows). The USB version uses a USB 3.0 Type-C connection. The Thunderbolt version can be bus-powered, but the USB version requires an external power supply (included).

Key Features and Highlights:

  • Unison Mic Preamps: This is a key feature that sets the Apollo Solo apart from most other interfaces. The two onboard preamps feature Universal Audio’s “Unison” technology, which is a hardware-software integration that physically reconfigures the preamp’s impedance, gain stage, and other circuit behaviors to precisely match the sound of classic analog preamps from brands like Neve, API, and Manley.
  • Real-time UAD Processing: The Apollo Solo has a built-in UAD-2 SOLO Core DSP processor. This dedicated chip allows you to record and monitor through UAD plugins (vintage compressors, EQs, guitar amps, and more) with near-zero latency, without putting any strain on your computer’s CPU. This is a game-changer for capturing a polished sound during the recording process.
  • Premium A/D and D/A Conversion: The interface features the same high-end converters as the rest of the Apollo line. It provides exceptional sonic clarity, detail, and a wide dynamic range, allowing you to capture and hear your audio with incredible accuracy. It can record at up to 24-bit/192 kHz resolution.
  • Compact and Robust Design: The Apollo Solo has a sturdy, all-metal construction that is built to last. Its small desktop form factor makes it perfect for a home studio or for mobile recording on the go.
  • Included Plug-in Bundles: The Apollo Solo comes with a valuable software suite. The standard “Realtime Analog Classics” bundle includes plugins like the UA 610-B Tube Preamp, Pultec EQs, and LA-2A and 1176 compressors. The “Heritage Edition” adds 5 more premium plugins.
  • Best-in-Class Headphone Amplifier: The onboard headphone output is designed to be loud and punchy with low noise, allowing you to confidently track and mix using headphones.
  • Flexible I/O: It provides a 2-in/4-out configuration with two combo XLR-1/4″ inputs (both with Unison and phantom power), a dedicated Hi-Z instrument input on the front panel, two 1/4″ balanced monitor outputs, and a 1/4″ headphone output.
