The JBL Control 30 is a high-output, three-way, all-weather passive loudspeaker designed for a wide variety of professional indoor and outdoor applications. It’s part of JBL’s renowned Control Contractor series, which is known for its durability, sonic performance, and flexible mounting options.
Key Features and Highlights:
- Three-Way Design: The speaker utilizes a 10-inch woofer for low frequencies, a 5-inch midrange driver, and a 1-inch titanium compression driver for high frequencies. This three-way configuration allows for excellent sound character and a smooth, extended frequency response from 38 Hz to 17 kHz.
- High Power Capacity: The Control 30 can handle a substantial amount of power, with a 500-watt continuous program power rating and 250 watts continuous pink noise. This allows it to deliver a high-impact sound with a maximum SPL of 123 dB.
- Weather Resistance: Designed for outdoor use, the speaker features a “WeatherMax” multi-layer grille, a fiberglass/Kevlar woofer cone, and other robust components that exceed military specifications for humidity, salt spray, temperature, and UV exposure. It has an IEC 529 IP-X5 rating.
- Flexible Transformer Taps: It includes a built-in 150-watt multi-tap transformer for use with 70V or 100V distributed speaker lines, which is common in large commercial installations. It also has a 4-ohm thru position for standard low-impedance setups.
- InvisiBall Mounting System: The speaker comes with JBL’s patented InvisiBall mounting hardware. This system allows for precise aiming of the speaker on a wall and provides a high degree of theft deterrence.
- Overload Protection: The speaker includes JBL’s SonicGuard technology, which protects the network and transducers from excessive power levels, ensuring long-term reliability.
